Well I'm not jumping the gun at all..just saying that "if" the findings are not to be favorable then I'd take the time to look into alternative avenues.
I myself agree with you about it being nice to know the composition of the alloy itself. Could open up a lot of questions and answers. As far as tensile strength is concerned...I know it will be a little difficult. I may not be able to find anywhere around here locally that can do such a test and then I have to look at if I can get a test piece in the right dimension for the testing...so you're definitely right about that issue.
